October 19, 2011-November 6, 2011 El Anima Sola: Remembering the Innocents Centro Cultural de la Raza 2004 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101 Curated by Cal A. Vera ... A Día de los Muertos art exhibit that pays homage to the murdered women of Júarez; migrants who have died crossing the US/México border; and the innocent people who have been killed in México's narco wars. Featuring artwork by: Diego Yeyo Aguirre Macedo, Natalia Anciso, Glo Andrade, Abril Andrade Griffith, Diego Arias, Olympia Andrade Beltrán, Rob Benavides, Jessica Calix-Reynolds, Pamela Calore, Rogelio Casas, Mario A. Chacon, Patricio Chavez, Marisol de las Casas, Estela Gama, Veronica Hernandez, Yessenia Hulsey, Jackie Joice, Teresa Yolanda Lopez, Richard Lou, Felicia Fe Montes, Alejandro Morales Riveron. Fabi Munguia, Fernanda Rios, Pedro Rios, Rick Rodriguez, Rebecca Romani, Rick Trujillo, Gabriel J. Vélez, and Wica A Día de los Muertos Altar Exhibit will complement El Anima Sola. A reception will be held on Oct 22 at 6:30pm with live painting by Rick Rodriguez and music by Alas de Mosca and DJ V-Rock. Día de los Muertos Commemoration on November 2 at 7pm featuring the play Journey of the Skeletons (written by Max Branscom and directed by Hector Rivera) and poetry and music by Manuel Paul Lopez, Manuel J. Velez, Michael Cheno Wickert and Olympia Andrade Beltrán with Ouseli Gomez.
